Regularly sketching is great for capturing thoughts and exploring ideas. It’s a process I always cherish and making sketches and creating work in my sketchbook is an important part of my creative expression.
Below are some of my sketches from 10 June 2016
A sketchbook is great for experimenting with new concepts and ideas and I see it as a powerful problem-solving tool that I can return to later and use for developing my next art project.
Sketching gives me the freedom to illustrate my thoughts and what’s in my mind. It’s a safe space to experiment and generate ideas; somewhere I can test and play with shapes and colors before committing to my next project/artwork.
I often experiment with contrasting colours in my work.
Here are four of the preliminary sketches I did in preparation for my recent painting "Yellow Square in Texture".
The bottom right sketch is the one I eventually chose to continue with for the final painting

Blue, yellow and red are known as primary colours, which are colours that can't be produced by mixing any other colours
